Evaluation.

What role did you take on for this group?

For the group i took on the role of who discovered the system. The part about who discovered the system was a bit hard and then i finally found it but the person Maximillian Nitze was a man who invented a cyptoscope to look at the bladder. We did all research and then we even wrote the script. After we did all that the teachers put a list of websites to help us with the part of who discovered the urinary system . We didn't change the information because it would be too much of a hassle with other things going on at school so we left it the same.

What did you like about working as a group?

I liked working as a group becasue A you dont have to do all the work and memebers of the group can help you out. B you can hear all the different and great ideas from dofferent people and als you can combine the ideas together. Working as a group helps becasue you can see the different ways other people do stuff and learn from how they organise the information and space out their time.

What was difficult about working as a group?

Working as a group was difficult because 2 people in our group had sporting commitments on nearly everyday of the week so we could work as a group so instead we worked as pairs for example Toni- Rose and Jasmine worked on the powerpoint while Tamara and I worked on the video. And then we put them all together.

What did you learn from working as a group?

Working as a group I learnt that working as a group actually means as a team and comparing and combining ideas to fit the project and also that  everyone has to pull their weight so that only one person has to do it.

What were your strengths and weaknesses as a group member?

My strength was that I researched a lot and came up with the idea of doing the interview so my part was interviewing a scientist who made further devolpments. My weakness was that i could do the video becasue i dind't have enough time.

What sugesstions do you have to improve the effectiveness of your group?

I would suggest for our group to work as an actual group because then you dont have to add the video all together and everyone knows whats going to be in the video  not find out on the day its presented. All of the group members should work on the assessment not only three doing the whole thing.

Instead of doing another interview the group decieded to do a verbal radio or in other words a verbal diary entrt explaining what the scope does and why we use it .

Today Tamara came over to my house and we started videoing our script. Since we didn't finish both our scripts at Tamara's house we finished them at home the night before and then we bought the script over to my house and filmed it.

We started filiming and then we could see the lines and then we had to type it up on the ipad and then see it from there and then it didn't work when we changed it from ipad to recording.

After that we used Tamara's phone to record the video.

During the video we were going to have the scientist dressed up in a lab coat and glassses but we couldn't get a lab coat and glasses so we had to dress up in our school uniform.

Today I went over to Tamara's house and started on the script that we were going to use for the video. We gathered the information the two nights before and then we when we were at her house we started writing the script and researching a bit further the system.

We then started writing the script according to the information that we had. Our idea is that we interview a the scientist that discovered the system and the scientist or scientists that are making or made future devolpments into the urinary system.

Then we started on my part of the script who discovered it. We started the script by looking at the information and then creating a question that he interviewer would ask:

Nitze specialized in research of kidney disorders and other urological problems. Along with Viennese instrument maker Joseph Leiter (1830–1892), he is credited with the invention of the modern cystoscope; a device used in diagnostics of the bladder. The Nitze-Leiter cystoscope was first publicly demonstrated in 1879. Functionally, it used an electrically heated platinum wire for illumination, a cooling system of flowing ice-water, and telescopic lenses for visualization. Invention of the incandescent light bulb by Thomas Edison allowed further improvements to the cystoscope; in 1887 Nitze constructed an apparatus that no longer needed a cooling-system.

Interviewer:Did the invention of light have an effect on your invention?
Maximillian Nitze: Yes it did because it sllowed me to mske further devolpments on my invention and in 1887 i consturcted and apparatus that no longer needed a cooling system.

That's how we did the script, we finished my script and that was it for that day.

Today I further researched what instrument Maximillian created or invented with the help of a Viennese instrument maker Joseph Lieter i also found out what the intstrument did to discover the system and how he designed the instrument and why they used it. It also contian information on about how the invention of light effected the instrument. He created an apparatus on how the nwe invention of the cystoscpe would be discovered. He constructed  it where it can use a cooling system to cool the electric heated platinum wire. He then also added a telescopice lense to the end of the scope. The telescopic scope would let doctors see the inner surfaces of the urinary tract.

While going through info I found out the paitent had to be under a local anaesthesia and then the cstoscopy begins is out near the urinary meatus 5-10 mins before the procedure.

The procedures are used/ recommended for:
- Urinary Tract
-Blood inurine also know as hematuria
-Loss of Bladder control
-Unusual cells found in urine sample
-Need for a bladder
-Painful urination
- Urinary blockage for example enlargement of marrowing of urinary tract
 - Stone in urinary tract
-Unusual Growth [ polyp, tumor or cnacer]

As a group we can't meet up because of sporting commitments and other things. So instead we are going to work on our individual pieces and add them together as a group.

Today I tried to research who discovered the urinary system, when I researched the system it was really difficult to find out who discovered the system and I spent nearly half an hour on researching it and then I finally found a link but it was Wikipedia and it had a lot of information on there from about him to where he studied, when he became a doctor and where he worked and who he worked with. There was a lot of useful information on there it help me a lot with the individual research that I had to do and it also contain a lot of interesting facts about him for example he became a his doctorate degree at the age of 26.

He created a scope called the cystoscope it was a modern invention at that time his name was Maximilan Nitze I research him and he was a famous doctor who got his doctorate degree and he studied urology and then became a urologist.

Maximilian Carl-Friedrich Nitze
Maximilian Carl-Friedrich Nitze (September 18, 1848 - February 23, 1906) was a German urologist born in Berlin.
He studied medicine at the Universities of Heidelberg, Würzburg and Leipzig. In 1874 he earned his doctorate, and subsequently became a medical assistant at the city hospital in Dresden. During the 1880s, Nitze founded a private urology hospital in Berlin. He later became a professor of urology at the University of Berlin.
Nitze is also credited with producing the first endoscopic photographs. Soon after Nitze's death in 1906, the cystoscope was used to perform the first thoracoscopy. In 1901 the first endoscope-guided laparoscopy of a dog was performed by German physician Georg Kelling (1866-1945). Today the Maximilian Nitze Medal is awarded by the German Society of Urology for special contributions in the field of urology.

There was also another website that had information about the biography of his life and the person who discovered it didn't technically discovered the system. This website didn’t have that much information on there but it just had information that related to the one on wiki or was the exact same information on wiki.

Abstract

Maximilian Carl Friedrich Nitze was born on the 18 of September of 1848 in Berlin the capital of Prussia. 1869 while still being a Student of the Heidelberg University the first nephrectomy of the world performed by Gustav Simon (1824-1876) woke his interest in urology. 1874 by the age of 26 he passed his state examination and obtained a doctor degree in medicine. On the 2 October of 1877 he presented the first cystoscope to the members of the Real Medical School in Dresden. Nitzes doubtless valuable contribution to urology was making real the endoscopical exploration of the genitourinary system and initializing the era of surgical treatments under direct vision. By the beginning of the XX century urology reached the status of an independent specialty by separating from surgery, dermatology/venerology, internal medicine and pathology.

Today in class we had about 20 minutes to discuss our ideas further. In our group we discussed what images we should use and how we should explain the way weather we should do it in a a diagram or a slide show. We also discussed when we can meet up and put all our individual research together our dates that we thought of :
- 28th
-30th
-31st
- 1st
